Broward County Waterway Cleanup Essay Contest Guidelines. The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is conducting its annual essay contest for Broward County high school students, in conjunction with the Broward County Waterway Cleanup. The essays should focus on the importance of our local waterways to our community.
The Florida Park Service reports that volunteers removed over 14,000 pounds of trash from public lands during their International Coastal Cleanup events. While this is quite an accomplishment, it also speaks to the concerning amount of trash littering public lands.
The minister said the Coastal Cleanup Day was a chance to make a real difference and take initiatives to clean up coastal beaches of trash, and motivate others to do the same.
