Across Florida, volunteers are transforming their communities, improving the environment, and creating beauty in their hometowns. There are over 40 county and city affiliates in Florida. In a typical year, KFB and the KAB Affiliates of Florida participate in the Great American Cleanup, the DRIVE IT HOME-Keep Our Paradise Litter-Free campaign, the International Coastal Cleanup Day, America.

Broward County Waterway Cleanup Essay Contest Guidelines. The Marine Industries Association of South Florida is conducting its annual essay contest for Broward County high school students, in conjunction with the Broward County Waterway Cleanup. The essays should focus on the importance of our local waterways to our community.

The Florida Park Service reports that volunteers removed over 14,000 pounds of trash from public lands during their International Coastal Cleanup events. While this is quite an accomplishment, it also speaks to the concerning amount of trash littering public lands.

The minister said the Coastal Cleanup Day was a chance to make a real difference and take initiatives to clean up coastal beaches of trash, and motivate others to do the same.

Each year FRIENDS and the Ministry of Tourism co-host Abaco’s International Coastal Cleanup in September. Originally started in 1987, the concept of an International Coastal Clean up was to engage people to remove trash from the world’s beaches and waterways, identify the source of the debris, and then initiate behavioral changes to decrease these types of pollution.

Keep Sarasota County Beautiful (KSCB) is a county-wide beautification program that initiates community cleanup projects to help keep our community free of litter. Established in 1987, our organization is an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful Inc., a national, non-profit organization that inspires and educates people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment.

WHY DO WE NEED COASTAL CLEANUP PROGRAMS? 1. To have clean coastlines all over the world. 2. To make people see that we can STILL do things to have a better place to live in. 3. To tell people to not throw wastes in the coastlines.
